About the Opportunity
This is an entry-level purchaser position responsible for internal and external procurement. This position operates primarily out of our Delta, B.C. office.
· Reviewing inventory levels and determining requirements for PO generation
· Manage POs in a timely, organized, and efficient manner: placing, confirming, expediting, and cancelling/rescheduling when necessary;
· Build trust and relationships to help negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery;
· Maintain accurate supplier and order-specific information in ERP;
· Monitor the flow of materials and order status to meet production schedules/requirements;
· Provide inventory reporting and forecast planning visibility internally and to supply chain partners.
· Assist Category Managers and the Sales Manager in developing inventory strategies to support product life cycles on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
· Reporting on overstock and slow-moving models weekly
· Advising eta’s for the product for the sales team
· Sending sales team reminders about invoice updating (dates, payment, stock issues/updates, special order forms)
· Updating ERP for new and discontinued models
· Review and process claims against suppliers
· Investigate price increases, source/recommend new and alternative parts and suppliers. Pro-actively recognize cost-reduction opportunities and implement process improvements;
· Assist in other areas and additional duties as required by management
About You
The ideal candidate will bring:
· A minimum of 2 years of related experience in purchasing
· Syspro software experience is an asset
· Strong MS Excel skills for sorting/analyzing large data sets
· Demonstrated interpersonal skills to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with vendors, co-workers and staff at all levels
· Must be able to multi-task and possess strong organizational skills
· Attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills, and ability to roll up sleeves where needed
