About The Role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
Temporary full-time Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Medical Affairs and Innovation team.
The Medical Affairs and Innovation team provides oversight for the Centre for Innovation, organ and stem cell donation and transplantation, utilization, donor and clinical services, medical microbiology and epidemiology, and ensures that Canadian Blood Services’ medical and scientific support is provided to the ongoing operations of every aspect of our work.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your ability to communicate effectively with donors, you will assess donor eligibility in accordance with the modified Donor Selection Criteria Manual (DSCM) for research donors
- Utilizing your superb people skills, you will instruct and counsel donors as required
- Drawing on your knowledge and experience you will perform venipuncture and all other aspects of the whole blood and apheresis donation process in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/work instructions
- With your technical expertise, you will complete relevant computer databases for study participation, donor records, research projects, trials and evaluations
- Utilizing your excellent organizational skills, you will assist in the organization and maintenance of the research clinic’s operation
- Drawing on your amazing interpersonal skills, you establish and maintain excellent public relations with research donors
Desired education and skills
- A college diploma or university degree in Nursing is required
- Experience and training using the Caridian Trima Accel and Haemonetics MCS+ collection devices is preferred, but not required
- Previous experience within a research setting would be an asset
- Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with BCCN&M is mandatory
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic) are essential, as is a demonstrated ability to establish priorities and to organize workload
