About the Role
At Family Services of Greater Vancouver, we’ve been helping people in crisis since 1928. As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, empowering our neighbours to create positive change in their lives. Our team is made up of more than 420 staff, including expert counsellors and support workers who provide compassionate, client-centred care to youth experiencing homelessness, families and children impacted by trauma, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable people from an evidence-based, trauma-informed lens. Working within the mission, vision, values and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, the Fund Development Coordinator reports to the Manager, Individual Giving and works closely with the Director, Fund Development as well as the Marketing & Communications team. In support of Agency fundraising goals, they contribute to philanthropy projects and campaigns, donor stewardship, and gift administration. They actively support the Agency’s awareness and goals around diversity and inclusion.

Salary: GS9, Step 1 $27.96 per hour

What you bring:
Donor Database Management
- Maintain NXT (Raiser’s Edge) donor database and provide database training for colleagues as required
- Undertake all aspects of donation processing and tracking, including data entry, tax receipting, and related strategic donor communications, with support from the Finance Department
- Produce database reports and queries, including mailing lists
- Assist with the reconciliation of fundraising and Finance Department reports
- Assist with data analytics
Donor Stewardship
- Serve as the primary point of contact for donor inquiries, feedback, and concerns, ensuring timely and thoughtful responses
- Implement stewardship strategies to ensure high donor retention rates, including personalized thank-you letters, emails, phone calls, and updates on the impact of their contributions
- Coordinate the production of stewardship materials, assist with the mailing of newsletters and e-communications, as well as distribution of the annual report with the Manager, Individual Giving
- Provide assistance with special projects and perform other related duties as required
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all information
Corporate Partnerships and Community Giving
- In collaboration with the Manager, Individual Giving, assist with planned Corporate Partnership annual campaigns to build profile, support donor retention, and grow revenue
- Drive cost-savings through strategic in-kind procurement, and by leveraging skilled volunteer programs
- Coordinate community-based fund development to retain and grow existing initiatives and attract new community-based fundraisers
- Assist and liaise with third-party event organizers to ensure they are fully supported within FSGV guidelines, including the use of online platforms, promotion, and use of FSGV branding
- Ensure all administrative items for third-party events are completed and adhered to, such as third-party event contracts and CRA-compliant tax-receipting
- Provide a high level of customer service to volunteers and third-party event organizers and respond to inquiries and complaints
- Ensure all information for volunteer and third-party event programs is kept up to date in the donor database and ensure the confidentiality and security of all information
Other Responsibilities
- Support the Fund Development & Communications team with collecting funding opportunity information from program staff
- Participate in research and prospect management activity
- This position offers the opportunity for candidates to gain experience in grant writing, specifically focusing on securing small grants valued at $5,000 or less
Education, Training, Experience
- Degree or diploma in business administration or other relevant discipline preferred
- 2-3 years experience in fund development, non-profit, or social services setting
- Recent graduates are encouraged to consider past volunteer, education, and other experiences towards their overall experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Understanding of fundraising and donor financial management principles and applications
- General understanding of the social services sector – working with people who live with the intersecting challenges of poverty, the effects of trauma and abuse, systemic social barriers, mental illness and addiction.
- Experience with a variety of online fundraising platforms
- Knowledge and experience with Raiser's Edge/NXT fundraising software an asset
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- A systems thinker with strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and work under shifting priorities and deadlines

- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
