The Business & Rights team at CBC works closely with the independent production community, negotiating and drafting broadcast licensing agreements, international and domestic format deals, and talent contracts.
In this position, you will be providing confidential administrative support to the Managers and Senior Management Team of Business & Rights for Scripted, Unscripted, and Inhouse Programming, with a primary reporting line to the Director of the Content Data Group, a cross-departmental team. You will play a key role in reviewing, analysing, formatting and/or presenting information in an efficient & creative way. With your strong organizational, analytical and technical skills, you ensure the team is operating in a smart, coordinated and agile way.
Key tasks for this position include:

Review and assess business deliverables such as A&Ds, CAVCO certificates, insurance, and CMF documentation (BAFs, Phase 2 forms) and prepares of correspondence confirming receipt/deficiencies of deliverables and other information based on departmental, Corporate and CRTC standards and procedures;

Assist Director/Managers in preparing and formatting highly confidential documents and presentations related to strategic planning, departmental budgeting and human resources related issues.

Assist Director/Managers in conceiving, developing, researching and preparing presentations, summaries and reports (PowerPoint, Google Slides), including synthesizing and presenting research material

You will manipulate and input data to create spreadsheets, reports, graphics and videos on various rights and program information. The incumbent also compiles, tracks, updates, analyzes and synthesizes information and reports, routinely and/or for ad hoc requests. For example, those supporting Programming partners, statistics and/or systems interfacing with external agencies such as the Canada Media Fund. This requires good analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to exercise sound judgement.

Prepare contracts via PCMS Livelink and PSC Livelink. Responsibility for expediting contract and other documents execution and monitoring circulation, ensuring timely return to appropriate parties.

You will be privy to, and responsible for, advanced confidential and sensitive information relating to human resources, budgeting, financial impacts and matters pertaining to labour relations, relating to all affiliations. Responsibility for handling and filing of highly sensitive correspondence and reports. Coordinates a significant amount of information related to the confidential compensation information of union employees.

Ensures adherences to corporate policies and departmental practices, obtains authorizations and forwards documentation for processing in a timely manner, including the independent production community. Advises on interpretation and application of these corporate & departmental policies.

Has a strong instinct and ability to conduct research, which may span regulatory frameworks, government policy, international media trends, digital media platforms, internal CBC databases, industry news sources, and more.

Responsibility for research, analysis and documentation related to active union negotiations.

Reviews draft commitment letters and agreements prepared by Managers

Ability to manage and coordinate the schedule and email folders of Director/Managers including the organization, planning for and scheduling of confidential meetings, travel and appointments. Ability to assess the urgency and importance of queries/problems and ensuring a timely response/resolution.

Implements staff changes for various teams using Workday application (i.e. hire administration).

Works collaboratively with other team members to ensure needs of the department are met.

May propose new ideas and perspectives on existing solutions, with the scope of the above duties.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
-
Post secondary education in business/legal/office administration, project management, or related discipline as well as demonstrable related working experience of at least 3 years (experience at a media company is preferable).

High level of discretion in handling sensitive information and maintaining strict confidentiality

Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities; attention to detail is pertinent.

Superior knowledge of and experience with internet and computer applications: specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Business Applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Meet, Calendar), Zoom, and an interest in new apps for business. Knowledge of Livelink, SAP and IBM Cognos is considered an asset and experience with Telefilm/CMF Dialogue system is considered an asset.

Strong technical skills are required with regard to databases and office equipment

Experience interpreting, drafting, and creating legal documents and agreements

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required

Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset.

Availability and flexibility to work beyond normal office hours is also an asset
