The Kettle Society supports people with mental illness to lead healthier lives by providing support services, advocacy, employment and mentoring and housing. We work to raise awareness of mental health issues, break down stigma and reduce barriers for people with mental illness. Our goal is to promote the inclusion of people living with mental illness in all aspects of society.
Kettle on Burrard has 140 units, located on Burrard Street across from St. Paul’s Hospital. This is a 16- story affordable housing project that includes community and commercial space. Easily accessible by transit.
Position: Maintenance Worker - Kettle on Burrard (KOB)

Hours & Days: 30 hours each week: Saturday to Tuesday: 9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm
Days Off: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Salary & Compensation: $25.18 per hour + benefits
Position:
The Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and repairs related to building, grounds and equipment. Duties include carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical and plumbing maintenance and repairs. Performs administrative duties related to maintenance requests and inventory, performs grounds keeping and landscaping duties as part of the Infrastructure & Facilities team.
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Two years recent related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education training and experience (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry or painting consistent with applicable codes and regulations).
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1, WHMIS 2015 and Mental Health First Aid
Ability:
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical and plumbing maintenance and repair
- Ability to track receipts and maintain a balanced petty cash float
- Ability to appropriately complete work orders
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work with people with a mental illness
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
- Ability to organize and prioritize
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
