Position Summary:
The Unit Coordinating Assistant/Clinic Clerical Assistant will be responsible for working collaboratively, within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate the activities of a fast-paced unit reception area and inter-professional workstation. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work effectively within a team, ability to prioritize, manage time well and are able to be self directed to work independently. A strong commitment to valuing diversity, patient and family centered care, and patient/community relations, is required. This position assignment is flexible between the Mississauga Hospital and Credit Valley Hospital.
Responsibilities include :
- Clerical duties related to patient admission, internal or external transfer and discharge, including but not limited to the retrieval of test results, telephone communications, booking appointments with other departments, patient related documentation within scope and ordering unit supplies.
- Maintaining confidentiality of patient and family information
- Completing computerized payroll and unit data collection as required
- Maintaining positive working relationships with patients, families, family support, unit and interprofessional staff.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a Grade 12 diploma.
- A related post-secondary diploma in medical terminology and/or training in the medical secretarial field are preferred.
- Candidates must have a typing speed of 30 w.p.m.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Proficiency in using Meditech and Epic computerized documentation systems, is preferred.
- Satisfactory attendance and performance required.
