Tasks

Load, unload and transport construction materials Operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials Clean and lubricate cranes Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures Instruct apprentices Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt Operate cranes equipped with dredging attachments to dredge waterways and other areas Assemble tower cranes on site Help medical examiner in charge Operate gantry cranes to load and unload ship cargo at port side Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction Operate locomotive cranes to move objects and materials at railway yards Assist in drilling and blasting rock on construction sites Operate bridge or overhead cranes to lift, move and place plant machinery and materials Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs Operate offshore oil rig cranes to unload and reload supply vessels Level earth to fine grade specifications Operate cranes mounted on boats or barges to lift, move and place equipment and materials Pave and rake asphalt Assist in demolishing buildings Clean and pile salvaged materials Operate dragline cranes to expose coal seams and ore deposits at open pit mines Perform routine maintenance work Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction Direct traffic at or near construction sites

Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.) Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.) Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees

Support for Veterans

Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Veterans Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans Recruits Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives (for example: job fairs, outreach programs etc.) Assists with immediate transition needs of Veterans (for example: relocation, housing, etc.)

Support for Indigenous people

Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers
